In sports, gender disparity in coaching has created challenges for both male and female athletes, affecting their performance and development. This phenomenological study investigates the experiences of 12 student-athletes in Davao City facing gender coaching mismatches. Using the snowball sampling technique, participants were selected and their narratives analyzed to uncover four key themes: the influence of social structures and expectations on behavior, the role of sociology in understanding interactions, the significance of society role theory shaped by gender roles, and the exploration of alternative educational approaches to challenge traditional gender norms. The findings highlight cultural disparities in gender education and suggest actions to promote equality and inclusion in sports coaching.
